Last Week, I was invited to attend the debut runway show for up and coming Canadian designer Hilary MacMillan. If you haven’t heard her name yet, you’re about to hear it a lot more! The fall/winter 2013 collection is absolutely stunning – classic, elegant and 100% ready to wear!

I had the pleasure of meeting sisters Lindsay and Hilary MacMillan last year when I visited their jewellery boutique, ELLE Hardware, on Queen West. They were so kind to let me pull stunning jewels and accessories for my FIRST ever Dainty Photo Shoot (Fall 2012). I knew about Hilary’s fashion dreams and it was SO lovely to watch them come true in front of a full house.

The Glass Factory at 99 Sudbury served as the perfect venue the Hilary MacMillan runway show – contemporary, bright and brimming with Toronto’s media and fashion elite! I watched the show from the front row and loved every minute of it.

Expertly tailored classic shapes unveiled in a perfectly balanced fall colour palette and a diverse selection of fabrics. Luxurious fall neutrals (black, off-white and camel) accented with bold red, glamourous gold and various textures. Inspired by 15th century royalty and equestrian dressing, Hilary’s fall collection was incredibly wearable with elegant pencil skirts, romantic blouses, relaxed cigarette pants and tailored toppers. Contrasting details were tasteful and truly eye-catching – I especially loved the metallic panels along the backs of jackets, bottoms of skirts and shoulders of blouses – so dainty! Here are my favourite looks:

The black and copper sequin styles were truly remarkable – intricate embellishment and Art Deco design – very Gatsby! With price points between $100 – $450 CDN, I’m definitely coveting a couple of these pieces for my fall wardrobe. See the complete collection…

I’m so impressed with the debut runway collection from Hilary MacMillan- chic, urban and ready to wear! The icing on the cake? Hilary is passionate about local, so her line is designed, sourced and manufactured in Canada. She’s also super sweet, smart and approachable – the kind of girl you want to grab a cocktail with! Couldn’t be happier to show my support – Congratulations Hilary, I know we’ll be seeing a lot more where that came from! Special thanks to Gail McInnes of Magnet Creative for orchestrating another fabulous night of fashion in Toronto!
